Functions

Audio CD ripping in the following formats:
- HE-AAC format (3gp): 96kbps/80kbps/64kbps/48kbps/40kbps
- ATRAC format (ATRAC3plus/ATRAC3)
- ATRAC Advanced Lossless format
- WMA format
- MP3 format
Copyright protection can be added to ripped tracks.
Dynamic Playlist: select by artist or genre, create playlist by date imported, rating, playback count, number of transfers, track number, playback time, file size.
Playlist synchronization between SonicStage library and WALKMAN.
Memory Stick PRO and Memory Sticl PRO Duo (only with Memory Stick PRO and Memory Stick PRO duo compatible ATRAC Audio device) are supported.
No limit to the number of times tracks without DRM (Digital Rights Management) content can be transferred.
Tracks can be converted at a specific bit rate and then be transferred to the ATRAC Audio device.
ATRAC CD's, Audio CD's and MP3 CD's (with MP3 tracks from My Library only) can be created.
CDDB (Gracenote) is supported.
CD cover of an Audio CD can be displayed in SonicStage when CD is inserted.

Notes:

Mac OS, Windows NT, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Vista 64 bits and Windows XP 64 bits are not supported.
SonicStage CP will be installed on your Operating System language in one of the following languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish).

Hardware environment:

Computer: IBM PC/AT or compatible.
CPU: Pentium lll 450MHz or higher. For Windows Vista, Pentium III at 800MHz or faster is recommended.
Hard disk drive space: 400MB or more.
RAM: 128MB or more (512MB are recommended for Windows Vista).
Others: CD drive (capable of digital playback by WDM).
When creating an Audio CD or ATRAC CD or MP3 CD, a CD-R/RW drive is needed.
Sound card.
USB port.
Display: High Color (16bit) or higher, 800 x 600 resolution (1024 x 768 or more is recommended).
Others: Internet access for web registration, and CDDB.
Internet access and Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or higher) installed for Web registration and EMD services.
Windows Media Player (version 7.0 or higher) installed for playing WMA files.

The following systems are not supported:

OS other than the ones indicated above.
Personally constructed PCs or operating systems.
Upgraded OS.
Multi-boot environment.
Multi-monitor environment.
Macintosh computers.

Download and Installation procedure

Before downloading SonicStage CP Version 4.3, make sure that you are logged on as a computer administrator

The file size will vary between 32Mb and 79Mb, depending on your computer environment. The installation time will vary between 4 to 10 minutes (with a 1 Mbps connection) and 30 minutes to 3 hours (with a 56 Kbps connection).

Download:

Connect to the Internet.
Create the following folder on your C drive: ss43_dl.
Click Accept at the bottom of this page to start download.
Click Save, and select the following folder: c:\ss43_dl.
After the download is completed, go to c:\ss43_dl and check that the downloaded file (SonicStageInstaller.exe) is 960Kb. If the file size is different, download the file again.

Note: Disable the standby or suspend mode on your computer during download. (This is usually found in the Control Panel section under Power options.)

Installation:

Close all the programmes on the computer. Check the task tray for open programmes before continuing.
If the “MD Simple Burner”, “Net MD Simple Burner” or “OpenMG Jukebox” icon is displayed in the system tray, please close the applications from there by right clicking the icon.
Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
SonicStageInstaller.exe will download the files necessary for your PC. Your personal information will not be sent to the server during the files download.
Go to the following folder: C:\ss43_dl and double-click SonicStageInstaller.exe.
Follow the onscreen instruction to complete the download and installation.
Click Done to restart the computer when prompted.
Check that the installation is completed: open SonicStage and select About SonicStage on the Help menu.
Check that SonicStage Version 4.3.0.xxxxx is displayed.

Sony does not give any Warranty with regard to the accuracy or reliability of the results or output that derives from the use of Utilities. Sony does not accept any responsibility for loss of data or damage caused by the installation or use of any of the downloaded Utilities, or give any other warranty, or accept any liability whatsoever with respect to Utilities. Sony recommends that Users (and Users warrant that they shall) always create and retain a copy of all data in hardware (with or in which Utilities will be installed or used) before installing or using any Utilities.
