This firmware update improves the following performance:

Displaying and navigating Web sites will be improved.

Note
“NetFront" browser installed in your device will be upgraded with this update. After the upgrade, the browser will not display Thai language fonts anylonger. If you want to be able to display Thai language fonts, do not perform this update.

How to confirm the model and the firmware version

Press the HOME button until the Home menu appears.
Tap (Settings), Common Settings, and Unit Information. Confirm the Model and the Firmware version.

Before downloading

Log on to your computer as an administrator.
If your computer is installed with Windows Vista, then the following message may appear: "Windows needs your permission to continue". In this case, click Continue to proceed and follow the on-screen instructions.

Before upgrading

To perform this update, the WALKMAN needs to have at least 50MB free space. Follow the steps below to confirm the available free space.

Press the HOME button until the Home menu appears.
Tap (Settings), Common Settings, and Unit Information.
Confirm the “Free/Total Memory Space”.

We strongly recommend that you first back up all the data (music and files) contained in your WALKMAN to your computer before proceeding with the update.

Download and Installation procedure

Update procedure

Click the Accept button below to start downloading the program. Save the NWZ-X1000_V1_10.exe file (45,805KB) to your computer.
After completion of the download, connect your WALKMAN to your PC by USB.
Close all running programs on your PC.
Double click the saved “NWZ-X1000_V1_10.exe” file, and follow the on-screen instructions and make sure that the WALKMAN is not disconnected from the computer before the update is complete, although USB disconnection messages may sometimes appear on your computer.
At the end of the update process the message that the udpate is complete appears. Click Finish.
Your WALKMAN is now updated.

Note:
When downloading the program and upgrading the firmware, log on to the computer with the administrator name or with any name which belongs to the administrator. If you are Windows 7 user or Windows Vista user, “Windows needs your permission to continue” message appears in the User Account Control dialog box. Click Continue to proceed, and follow the announcements.

When the udpate is complete
Make sure that your WALKMAN is correctly updated by checking the firmware version:

Press the HOME button until the Home menu appears.
Tap (Settings), Common Settings, and Unit Information. Confirm the Model and the Firmware version.

Errors that may occur during the update process.

*In case the following message is displayed on your computer: “The update data file cannot be transferred because there is not enough available disk space in the device.”
Delete some songs in the unit, or transfer to PC to available disk space more than 50MB. Then, try to update again.
* In case the following message is displayed on your computer: “The software update of the NWZ-X1050 (or NWZ-X1060,) device to version 1.10 timed out.”
The upgrade may have failed. Click Finish. Follow the Upgrade procedure and retry to upgrade.
