The Cyber-shot <DSC-FX77> can exchange images with a VAIO equipped with the Basic Imaging Profile (BIP)-compatible BluetoothTM function.

Using the Cyber-shot as the remote camera of a SONY VAIO


You can perform remote shooting from a VAIO equipped with the Basic Imaging Profile (BIP)-compatible BluetoothTM function.

Caution
The maximum time you can use the camera as a remote camera is three hours. The camera automatically turns off after three hours.
Do not use the Cyber-shot for hours as a surveillance camera and such. This may cause a malfunction.

Tips
Design and specifications of the SONY VAIO are subject to change without notice.
The screens and buttons displayed may differ depending on the VAIO and the software used. In this section, examples are given using "Network Smart Capture."
When [SECURITY LEVEL] of the camera is set to [HIGH], passkey entry may be required.

Preparation 1: Setting the Cyber-shot to be connectable

  1. Set the MODE dial to [ ] , [ P] or [SCN] on the Cyber-shot.


  2. Press BluetoothTM button on the Cyber-shot.


  3. The BluetoothTM menu appears.

  4. Press of the control button to execute [REMOTE CAMERA].


  5. The BluetoothTM function starts up and "WAITING FOR CONNECTION" is indicated. The Cyber-shot is then connectable.

Caution
When [MODE] (REC MODE) is set to [VOICE], you cannot select [REMOTE CAMERA].
You cannot use the self-timer function.

Preparation 2: Connecting the VAIO to the Cyber-shot with the BluetoothTM function

  1. Turn on the VAIO, and turn on the BluetoothTM function.


  2. Double-click BlueSpace icon on the task tray.


  3. "BlueSpace" starts and the main screen appears.

  4. Click (the Device Discovery button) on the left side of the screen.


  5. The VAIO searches for BluetoothTM devices in the vicinity. When the device discovery operation is completed, a connectable BluetoothTM device(s) is displayed in blue on the right side of the screen.

  6. Move the device you want to operate remotely to the center with Upper arrow / Lower arrow .

    Select the desired Cyber-shot based on the name and the device address.

  7. Click (the Service Discovery button) on the right side of the screen.


  8. Available services are searched for, and the available service button(s) located in the center of the screen begin to flash to indicate which services are available.

    Tips
    If passkey entry is required on the Cyber-shot and the VAIO, enter the passkey.
    If you run past the time limit for the passkey entry (30 seconds), repeat Step 5 to connect.

  9. Click (the Imaging button) the second button from the bottom in the column in the center of the screen.


  10. "Network Smart Capture" starts. After a while, the image viewed through they Cyber-shot appears.

    [REMOTE CAMERA] appears on the screen of the Cyber-shot.

    Tips
    Once the connection is mode, Steps 3 and 5 are not required.




Shooting still images from the VAIO using the Cyber-shot

  1. Click [ Still image icon Still] .


  2. The VAIO is in the still image mode.

  3. Click [Capture] button.


  4. The Cyber-shot shoots the still image. This image is saved in both the Cyber-shot and the VAIO.

    Tips
    The shutter always clicks when you shoot the image in the remote camera mode.
    On the Cyber-shot, the still images shot by the Cyber-shot setting are saved in the recording folder of the "Memory StickTM ."
    The image size, file name and storage destination of the still image saved in the VAIO depends on the setting of the VAIO. For details, refer to the HELP files of the software.

Shooting movies from the VAIO using the Cyber-shot

  1. Click [ movie icon Movie] .


  2. The VAIO is in the movie mode.

  4. The movie recording starts.

  5. Click [Stop] button.


  6. The movie recording stops.

    Tips
    The movie is saved only in the VAIO.
